    One bank- two laws

    Had a very bad experience at Commercial bank. yesterday I went to Unawatuna with a foreigner friend and being a Saturday banks were closed and called Com Bank CSC at Laughs Rawathawatte Moratuwa and asked if they change foreign currency and answered positive. When visited to change a mere 200 euros, the teller checked the currency notes for over 3-4 minutes and my embarrassed foreigner friend asked what the problem is. A confused Teller in broken English said notes are okay but if you encash them in the black market you can get more? Imagine a licenced bank advising the customer to reach the black market at a time Govt. is trying so hard to find F/C. I said that I came to the bank with the friend as I don’t want to go to black market. Finally he agreed to encash but wanted the foreigner to bring a photocopy of the passport from outside?. I asked why and said nowhere they ask the foreigner to bring photocopies. ? The teller said they have no photocopy machine. what a shame. Sri Lanka’s no.1 bank can’t afford a photocopy machine? lost my temper and came out and called Com Bank Panadura. They said that they encash only currency brought by SL immigrants employed abroad and not foreigners. One Bank. Two policies. Finally I got the matter done by a licenced money changer at Galle. Commercial Bank, this is shame.Your tellers are half baked, unbelievably unprofessional and language proficiency nil. Please give them training on Customer care. Please spend a few millions and give the required apparatus to continue their work.

  3. At 10 am (2023 November 30) I went to the Weligama branch. Customer care is the last. The lady who worked the first counter was just like priscilla from zootopia. In a very busy moment, she didn’t care when there were many people waiting in line. Commercial bank is good but Weligama branch is worst. Really disappointed. Best branch is Mathugama. They are really helpful and active.

    Worst Customer Service

    Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I wanted to get activated my lost credit card with increasing the credit limit. First I called customer service and had to wait around 5 minutes for a customer service representative to answer the phone. Then she gave me another phone number of their recovery department and when I called them, they again informed me to contact the customer service.However any one didn’t give me a proper instructions just wasting my time.

    Cashier point customer servise is not good at all.it seems they are not educated about customer servise,one lady in cashier desk at Rajagiriya branch spoke as insulting,even assistant manager doesn’t care about customer,i have to wait still he signed off he’s pille of documents and finish he’s calles.it’s a shame to the company with such non educated employees. Also i find most of branches visited rcently ,employees doesn’t consider customer satisfaction at all ,if need to create an account need to wait for long hours in ques. I think it is becoming inefficient as government sector.

    VERYYY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

    Very poor customer care service at kottawa commercial bank. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. I’m having two bank accounts for myself at this place. Today I went to open a FD and stayed there more than 2 1/2 hrs with my queue number, But I went out for 5mins to buy something to drink next shop. And after I came back, they didn’t let me in. Saying its 3.05pm and the bank is closed. I mean at least the securities should have mentioned it before we left! I have no time to deal with useless banks like this. Tomorrow I’m cancelling my accounts.
    This place is such a waste of time.

    Rajagiriya staff a big thank you

    Went to get some work done and the staff was very helpful, i think all should take a lesson from this branch. A manager should be outside serving and this branch did that.

    Very disappointed about customer service in slave Island branch. I’m waiting through an hour for update my bank book. Very bad customer service. Even they ordered to counter staff not to take my book as they see it just a time wasting.

    Not recommending

    I wanted to make an urgent payment and requested to debit card enhancement but digital banking team failed to make it. Whenever I request an update what they say is it has been forwarded to the relevant department. But the relevant department never come back to you.

    Think twice before you invest in Commercial bank. If you are living abroad like me, you have to waste much money by waiting on their hotline for ages

    Poor customer care

    This is one of leading bank something ago. Now no one useless bank. Customer care very disappointed. I withdrew all my savings and went to other banks. My wife also waiting to withdraw her fix deposit next January. Not recommend any body to commercial bank
